10/10 would recommend- Chuck

Chuck is the cult hit about a nerd who accidentally downloads an entire CIA database into his brain and soon becomes wrapped up in a large conspiracy with various twists and turns. Chuck (our protagonist played to perfection by the nerdy and lovable Zachary Levi) ends up as part of a team of Sarah Walker from the NSA (played by the smouldering Yvonne Strahovski) and John Casey from the CIA (played by the gruff but awesome Adam Baldwin). Chaos ensues. I don't want to give anything more away because the plot begins to take different forms introducing new characters. But it's all great. It's one of the most consistent shows I've ever watched and I love it.

As I alluded to in the last paragraph, Chuck is very well acted. Everyone from Chuck himself to his family to the ever hapless Jeff and Lester (or Jeffster as they like to be called) plays their part perfectly. There are also some incredible guest appearances from such showbiz legends as Mark Hamill, Chevy Chase and Timothy Dalton, as well as a few minor cameos designed to appeal to nerds like me with Danny Pudi, Freddie Wong and Tony Hale popping in. The cameos ramp up in terms of how unbelievable everything is but that adds to the magic. Because that's what this is. Magic.

But how could I talk about Chuck without talking about the music? Every episode has some magical moment and through the whole series, the music choice is perfect. Each song acts as the emotional anchor to many a special moment but not only do they anchor the scene, they also boost the scene to incomprehensible levels. Also, Jeffster. Any Jeffster performance is magical, especially their one in the finale. Moving on to the finale, I would also like to add that unlike another Yvonne Strahovski show, Dexter, the finale is satisfying. Of course I won't spoil it but it gives enough closure while leaving enough open to allow for a potential future series (here's hoping).

Here's the thing. Chuck wasn't ever the best show. It was never the best made, the most emotional, the funniest. But it had something, something that elevated it to be amazing. I don't know what it is, I may never know what it is but I love this show. I want to watch it all over again and again and again. It's a special show and if you have an interest in nerd culture or you like a cool show about spies with a lovable and unconventional protagonist, Chuck is for you. It's not for everyone but god damn, do I love it.
