Review- Community Season 6 or Intro to Reviewing of Cult Shows and Their Sixth Seasons

Image
Oh Community. We have a very tricky relationship. First you make me fall completely head over heels with you through seasons 1 through 3. Then we hit that rough patch of season 4 and it felt like it could all end. After that, I thought we could go back to normal with season 5 and for a while, it was good. But your parents said we couldn't meet up again and cancelled the relationship. All I could do to console myself was look at the old videos of the fun we had together and mourn. And then, out of the blue, you came back. Sure, the way you turned up was odd but you were back and as good as you'd ever been. So give me your hands, show me the door. I can not stand, to wait anymore. Somebody said, be what you be. We could be old and cold and dead on the street. But I love you more than words can say. I can't count the reasons I should stay. Let me start this review by saying this: thank you Yahoo. You brought Community back from the dead when NBC weren't willing to car

Top 7- Films you have to watch as a teenager

Image
This is my last week of secondary school. Emotions are high, girls are bursting into tears with no warning and a five year period of my life is ending. Blah, blah, blah, that's an excuse for me to talk about must see films for teenagers. Basically, if you're a teen, you should have watched these films by now. They're not necessarily teen films but they are essential for teens to watch. 7. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind One of my favourite films ever, Eternal Sunshine is the best love story ever written. I've spoken at length about it's honesty and it's humour and how it is amazing so I won't here. Put simply, it's a film that you should watch for both the quality of the film, how different it is to everything else that exists and how honestly it shows love. As beautiful as it is brutal, this film is essential. And it's only number seven. 6. Forrest Gump Forrest Gump has everything for everyone. It's funny, it's heartwarmi

Review- Casino

Why am I reviewing a film from 20 years ago that bears seemingly no relevance to anything. Short answer, I wasn't sure what to do. Long answer, it's my prom next week, the theme is Casino so I thought I'd tie it all together with the film Casino. I wish I'd just made up some Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson themed holiday and written about that instead. Casino is a film by Martin Scorcsese starring Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci as thugs who work their way up the pecking order of a bunch of other thugs. No, it's not Goodfellas. Goodfellas was... Well, good. This just isn't. It's the story of how Robert De Niro works his way up the ladder and stays there. I'm not really sure what else happens. It's amazing how little of three hours sticks with you but Casino is clearly the film that proves that a film being longer doesn't make it any better, or it would be if Boyhood didn't exist. I'll start with the positives. Robert De Niro is no

Top 7- My Favourite Actors

Image
I'm not sure if you've realised yet but I kind of like Film and TV and a big part of those is the actors, the people who stand in front of the camera and blather on for a bit. It's a job is certainly important in this business and I want to celebrate some of the men that are great at blathering on for a bit. They aren't necessarily the most critically acclaimed actors or even the most famous but I think these guys are great. 7. Bryan Cranston Everyone knows who Bryan Cranston is now, due to the phenomenal performance he put in in Breaking Bad. Even if you've never seen the show, you're aware of how incredible his performance is. But old Bry Bry has put in many other great performances as well, most notably as Hal in Malcolm in the Middle. Two roles with a stark contrast but one amazing actor at the middle. Whether he's telling someone he's the one who knocks or singing about bacon and rubbing his belly, everyone loves Bryan Cranston. 6. David Te

Opinion Piece- Is the AAA game industry boring?

Video games have become boring. It's a valid argument people could make about many sections of the industry but especially the AAA section of it. Sure, we all love a bombastic action game occasionally, but maybe we want more from our games. Unfortunately, more is not what we're getting given. Some people will instantly reject the idea that indie games are often superior to AAA games because they're "pretentious and wanky" to quote a friend of mine. In fairness, this can often be a very accurate summary. Indie games are the art films of the game industry but that's why they get the respect they do. While AAA games love retreading the old formulas that will make money but often be boring, indie games are willing to try something new and attempt new gameplay mechanics, ways of telling stories or look pretty in a way that doesn't mean five new engines and eight orphans were sacrificed for shadow textures. It's the difference between throwing money at a p
