10/10 would recommend- Chuck

Image
Chuck is the cult hit about a nerd who accidentally downloads an entire CIA database into his brain and soon becomes wrapped up in a large conspiracy with various twists and turns. Chuck (our protagonist played to perfection by the nerdy and lovable Zachary Levi) ends up as part of a team of Sarah Walker from the NSA (played by the smouldering Yvonne Strahovski) and John Casey from the CIA (played by the gruff but awesome Adam Baldwin). Chaos ensues. I don't want to give anything more away because the plot begins to take different forms introducing new characters. But it's all great. It's one of the most consistent shows I've ever watched and I love it. As I alluded to in the last paragraph, Chuck is very well acted. Everyone from Chuck himself to his family to the ever hapless Jeff and Lester (or Jeffster as they like to be called) plays their part perfectly. There are also some incredible guest appearances from such showbiz legends as Mark Hamill, Chevy Chase

Review- Better Call Saul

Image
Let's not lie, if you watched Breaking Bad, you're probably still trying to fill the hole it left. There was just something about it that is so unique. Whether you think it's one of the best shows ever made or not, it was unlike anything we've ever seen or may ever see again. That's where Better Call Saul comes in. As you could well have guessed by now, Better Call Saul is the story of Saul Goodman, the criminal lawyer we all loved so dearly from Breaking Bad. But there's a twist; Saul is not Saul yet. When we meet Saul, he's Jimmy McGill, a wannabe lawyer just trying to get along. He has an eccentric brother, meets Mike (also from Breaking Bad) working at a car park but he hasn't got it together. This is his story. I don't really want to spoil much of the story so I'll keep this fairly brief but basically, it's the first part of his rise to power. And it's just as entertaining as Walter White's rise. Unsurprisingly, the acting

Top 7- Films I shouldn't love but I do

This list goes out to all those guilty pleasure films and films that defy your expectations so incredibly, you still can't believe it. There are quite a few films that I have watched that I just loved, for some reason. Be it because they're for a totally different audience than I fit into or just because they shouldn't be good but are, these films deserve recognition. 7. The Jump Street films Admittedly, this is a bad start because if you've actually seen these films, you can clearly see how I could love these. But at face value, they look like trashy teen comedies. Pair up a fat guy and a hunk and then have them shoot bad guys and crack jokes at each other's expense. However, it turns out that these films are nothing like that. The first is a spoof of reboots and the buddy cop genre and the second was the funniest film of 2014 by a mile with it's meta humour, it's plain silly action and the funniest end credits you will ever see. It may look trashy bu

Review- Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 1

Image
If you're a fan of oddball comedies and shows that are just off the wall in a knowing way (not Big Bang Theory), then you'll have likely come across the excellent 30 Rock. It was a show about people putting on a show at the NBC studio's in New York and it was wonderful. Written by and starring Tina Fey, the show was meta, wacky and strangely sincere at points and I'd highly recommend watching it if you ever have the chance. But now, we have a show that looks ready to follow in it's clown shoe sized foot steps: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is Netflix's newest comedy show and it's already looking great. It stars Ellie Kemper as Kimmy, a woman who has been locked up in a bunker for the last fifteen of her life when she is all of a sudden released into New York. She takes the logical step and goes to live in a basement with a gay black man named Titus Andromedon. But money is short so she takes a job as the helper and cleaner of Mrs

Opinion Piece- Is it alright to re-release Video Games?

There's something that's become far too big of a trend in gaming and that's the re-releasing of old video games at the price of new ones. To those of you who aren't familiar, this probably sounds like a massive scam, and to be honest, it kind of is. Part of the problem with games being re-released is that people buy them. If there's one thing that big companies love, it's things that make money. If things make money, more of them will be made. It's a simple rule. So even if you are against games being re-released, there is not a whole lot you can do. And because these games are making so much money, they're making up about half of the big games released every year. It's killing creativity to a degree that is far above sequels and reboot; at least they try and put in new content. Now, I'm not against old games being re-released to a new generation. Re-releases have given me the chance to play games I'd otherwise have missed out on like Oca
