Top 7- My Favourite Actors

I'm not sure if you've realised yet but I kind of like Film and TV and a big part of those is the actors, the people who stand in front of the camera and blather on for a bit. It's a job is certainly important in this business and I want to celebrate some of the men that are great at blathering on for a bit. They aren't necessarily the most critically acclaimed actors or even the most famous but I think these guys are great.

7. Bryan Cranston
Everyone knows who Bryan Cranston is now, due to the phenomenal performance he put in in Breaking Bad. Even if you've never seen the show, you're aware of how incredible his performance is. But old Bry Bry has put in many other great performances as well, most notably as Hal in Malcolm in the Middle. Two roles with a stark contrast but one amazing actor at the middle. Whether he's telling someone he's the one who knocks or singing about bacon and rubbing his belly, everyone loves Bryan Cranston.

6. David Tennant
He's the best Doctor. That is the only reason you need to love David Tennant. For most people of my generation, he defined the doctor. He was charming, quirky but not annoyingly so and had the power to show a dark side when needed. What more do you want? He was also the deeply flawed and vastly interesting D.I. Hardy from Broadchurch and was one of the strongest elements of the show, week in, week out. When his shows had weak patches, David Tennant was there to support them.

5. Jason Bateman
Some of you may see this choice and think I've made a huge mistake. A large chunk of you will have no idea that I just made a reference to the show Jason Bateman famously leads, Arrested Development. It's one of the funniest and least recognized comedies around and one of the chief reasons for it's hilarity is Jason Bateman. He is the anchor that the show is based around and I love seeing him deal with the hi-jinks of his family, episode after episode. Bateman has also appeared in the hilarious Horrible Bosses and the constantly heartwarming Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium. Basically, Jason Bateman is good in almost everything.

4. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
I don't know what it is about this man but there is something inherently lovable about the man mountain that is Dwayne Johnson. He's just a cool dude. Whether he's lip syncing Taylor Swift, pumping iron or being part of the most heart warming video on YouTube (see here for proof https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-B7UJtvlLM), he's awesome. Unlike most of the actors on this list, I don't even really like The Rock's movies that much. I just love him. He is also (for some strange reason) the namesake of my Duke of Edinburgh group. Maybe something to do with being tough or looking cool or maybe we'd just lost our damn minds. Whatever the reason, he's a magnificent namesake for anything and an idol of mine

3. Richard Ayoade
Handsome, confident, ladykiller. Richard Ayoade is none of these things and more. While his acting career has been much quieter recently after heading more into directing, his roles are iconic. There is one role that Ayoade has become inseparable from and that is Maurice Moss from The IT Crowd. He's the nerd that everyone loves because of how uncomfortable he is and makes everything. Whether he's a diamond in the rough in The Watch or a shiny diamond in the diamond of The IT Crowd, Richard Ayoade is hilarious to watch and totally peerless in his bizarre style of comedy.

2. Chris Pratt
Let me list some films and you have to guess the common factor: The Lego Movie, Her, Guardians of the Galaxy. If you guessed that they're all amazing films then yes, you're technically right but they all also have Chris Pratt in them. Chris Pratt has become Hollywood's darling at the moment because he's charming, funny and went from flabby to super ripped. I love him and that's a great thing because at this rate, he's going to be in pretty much every big movie for the next few years. Hope you like guys who are funny and charming because Chris Pratt has both in bucketloads.

1. Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Anyone who knows me well will have seen this coming. Joseph Gordon Levitt is my man crush and incredibly talented as well. He can sing, dance act and direct all very well. Let's go through some of his great stuff he's done. He starred in the only decent romcom (500) Days of Summer, is in the exciting and tense action flick Looper, has his own YouTube channel through which he promotes collaboration and up and coming talent and he directed the film Don Jon which I think is an excellent directorial debut. So if you want anything involving talent, being talented or looking talented, JGL is your man. Metaphorically of course. In reality, he's mine, hands off!
