Top 7- Most Anticipated Summer Films of 2015

Folks, welcome to Summer. It's a time of sun, a time of fun and a time when all that will be ignored because I have to revise. But more importantly, it's a time when some of the most visually impressive and fun films come out from the big studios. And while Summer blockbusters aren't always good, last year was surprisingly excellent and has filled me with a lot of confidence, even if it could be misplaced. Also, films like Paper Towns aren't on here because they're not typical Summer blockbusters. Only the big budget, balls to the wall type stuff will get on here. In short, these are the films you should be watching instead of going outside or revising for exams. Because that's what I'll be doing.

7. Mission Impossible- Rogue Nation

Love him or hate him, Tom Cruise is someone that exists and keeps making movies. A large portion of these movies have been the Mission Impossible films, which I actually really like. Ghost Protocol surprised everyone with it's tense set pieces, intrigue and a desire to stop being taking seriously. It led to a stellar film and it looks like the next one is going to do just the same. The Impossible Missions Fore is being dismantled (like it seems to be in every film) and Tom Cruise has to run, ride bikes and legitimately hang off the side of a plane to do a thing. Yeah, the story isn't clear. What is clear is that the set pieces look even crazier than the last film's one in Dubai where Tom Cruise was falling along the world's tallest building. It's going to be big and not that complex. Perfect start to the films of the Summer.

6. Ted 2
Ted was another surprise on release. Teenagers have loved Family Guy ever since it arrived on our screens and I don't think I'd be alone in saying that it seemed unlikely that he'd transfer so well to the big screen. We were all proved wrong with the vulgar and hilarious Ted. Unfortunately, that confidence was destroyed after a Million Ways to Die in the West. That and the simple fact of it being a comedy sequel seem to be making many people uneasy. It's important to remember that unease but the trailer was hilarious. Mark Whalberg is always great when he is a parody of himself and even if Mila Kunis is gone, there's enough stuff here to at least keep me interested.

5. Jurassic World

I love Chris Pratt. He can't do much wrong (ignoring Movie 43) and I only hope that this is true for his newest project, Jurassic World. The original Jurassic Park is a brilliant film and while none of the sequels ever really lived up to it, this one looks like it will at least be good. The plot looks like it'll be kept deliberately simple with a focus on keeping the feel of the original. From what we've seen from the trailers so far, it has a vibe of the original with a little side of Alien as well. Jurassic World could still suck badly but it looks good and for now, I'm cautiously optimistic.

4. Antman

This time last year, Antman would have been much higher up my list due to Edgar Wright's involvement but since then, he has left. Still, from the trailer we've seen and some of the news that's been released, I'm actually quite excited for this. Plus, it's Marvel and as we all know, Marvel made films have been among some of the strongest mainstream action films of the last few years. Basically, we're in a position where the worst case scenario for this film is that it's okay. I can't see it being bad but it could be excellent.

3. Lazer Team

Unless you are a regular of YouTube or Reddit, you probably won't have heard of this film. For those of you who don't know, Lazer Team is a film made by the highly popular company Rooster Teeth. They have a highly successful YouTube channel and are responsible for the very popular series' Red vs Blue and RWBY. Given a bigger budget, it looks like there is plenty of the classic Rooster Teeth charm in here but in a form that should hopefully get them even more well deserved fans. I have no idea if this film will even come out in cinemas here but I will be watching this one way or another.

2. Avengers 2: Age of Ultron
You saw this one coming. The first Avengers film is still one one of the biggest films ever made and the sequel looks like it's going to raise the standard higher than ever before. It'll introduce a bevvy of fan favourites from the comics to us film fans and we are getting some fight scenes that will make any other fight scene this year pale in comparison, size wise. Have you never wondered who would win out of The Hulk and Iron Man in a Hulk-Buster suit? Well, it's time to find out. You will see this film, you don't need me to recommend it. But I have a feeling that it'll be a good obligatory film and make more money than five China's.

1. Mad Max: Fury Road
You read that right. Mad Max. The franchise from the 80s with Mel Gibson, famous anti-semite, set in a dystopian future where Australia was a desolate wasteland full of barbarians. Sorry, it was a documentary. Anyway, this new reboot looks... I don't even know where to begin. It looks so incfedibly original, especially for a reboot. Tom Hardy himself has come out and said the film is "fucking unbelievable". It seems like one long action sequence, set on a moving convoy of vehicles, where our hero will have to fight off desert maniacs/Australians. The early talk from this film has been nothing but good and I think you should really look out for this one. It'll be mad.
