10/10 would recommend- Super Smash Bros for 3DS Demo



3DS owners rejoice as the game no one ever expected to come to handheld consoles is weeks away. Nintendo are also excited to be receiving our money, so much so that the demo for Smash Bros is up today. This demo is going to help a lot of owners decide if they will buy Smash Bros or buy Smash Bros and regret it. Judging by the demo, people will be happy. Specifically, Nintendo will be happy because this will make a shit ton of money. It is your typical Smash Bros gameplay on an untraditional console and if that isn't enough to make all you 3DS owners drop everything and download this (yes, all 1 of you), I don't know what will. Because it's bloody brilliant.



The demo is pretty bare really, because it only has five characters and one stage but that's all it needs. For a start, Nintendo don't want to release everything in a demo. I for one, would rather have limited things and unlimited time than unlimited things for a limited time. You play as either Mario, Link (my character of choice), Mega Man, Pikachu and Villager from Animal Crossing on the map Battlefield. It's pretty bare bones but it's perfect for beating the crap out of other characters. And the controls are great. At first, they felt a bit odd but then after a few games, it was natural and I was winning. This is basically here to show people that Smash Bros will be great on anything and to remind us that it's coming, as well as giving us some time to practice before the game launches and we all "get recked by tha pros". If you own a 3DS, download this demo now. If you don't own a 3DS, it's kind of worth it at this point what with there now being this, Mario Kart 7 and Pokemon, as well as Kid Icarus.

Review- Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip

*sigh* Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Road Chip is the fourth (?!?!?) film in the Alvin and The Chipmunks franchise that has so far consisted of the first one, the Squeakuel and Chipwrecked. It features singing Chipmunks who are entirely animated and humans who can't act despite being talented and failing to interact with the animated 'munks. This particular film has them trying to sabotage Dave's wedding because they don't like the new Mum's son. It's an excuse for hijinks and a poor one at that. At least it's entertaining hijinks though, right? Wrong. I guess I should talk about the acting. Dave, or Earl from My Name is Earl, is the Dad of the chipmunks. After four films, he should be able to stare into blank space and pretend there are balls of fur there but he just can't. He isn't funny and he just can't act. Do You Feel Like A Hero Yet? - The Last of Us and Violence in Context

Warning : this post is going to contain spoilers for both games in the Last of Us franchise, as well as discussions of some terrible acts of violence. I'm not going to use screenshots of any of these events, but if you don't want the games spoiled or don't want to read descriptions of graphic violence, I recommend you don't read on. This month marks the one year anniversary of The Last of Us Part 2 . The launch was, to put it mildly, messy. The game was beset by delays, was being hyped up to absurd degrees by rabid fans and then suffered some really brutal leaks. These leaks revealed many crucial and controversial details of the narrative of the game and made it pretty much impossible to have even a slightly nuanced conversation about what the story was doing. Out of context, these narrative beats infuriated fans, but a year on I want to look at them in context.
