Top 7- My most anticipated games of 2015

Happy day after day after new years day. If you're anything like me, you're burried in a landfill of games from the steam sale, movies to watch before Oscar season and food. Dear God, why does food taste so good? And why is there so much of it everywhere at this time? Anyway, time to finish looking forward into what is now this year with sweet, sweet video games.

7. Mortal Kombat X
In 2014, we had Smash Bros. In 2015, we'll have Mortal Kombat X. Mortal Kombat is famous for being the single most brutal fighting game ever made and it's the reason we have the ESRB rating system. But it's also incredibly fun and one of the best multiplayer experiences out there. That's what makes this new installment so exciting. Huge amounts of gore, all looking crisp and beautiful in 60fps. It has more characters than ever before, looks better than ever before and if it plays better than ever before, we've got an essential local multiplayer game for the ages.

6. Mirrors Edge 2
While EA are the most evil thing in all of the entire gaming industry, they also own Dice, the makers of Battlefield (a slowly dying shooter series) and Mirrors Edge. Gamers have been crying out for a sequel to this totally unique parkour game since it's first release and this sequel has been working it's way along after it's announcement in 2013. The word is that this game will be out this year but I'm not sure. The original Mirrors Edge was great but EA have become far shadier since so we could well see microtransactions everywhere or it could even be free to play. Dice, don't let EA ruin your baby. Or there will be hell to pay.

5. Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
This game keeps getting delayed and with each delay, I get a little more worried. The original was incredibly new and interesting and a seuquel was a surprising and delightful announcement. We've seen trailers that promise more of the good and some new mechanics to change up the system. But it keeps getting pushed back. It was meant to come out late 2014 but that's not happened. There's been silence from the developers for a while now and I hope we'll one day see it. Sadly, it gets less likely each day. But if we see it, it'll be gold

4. Halo 5: Guardians
After the runaway success/broken server simulator that was The Master Chief Collection, anticipation for Halo 5 has... slowed. But the beta is out now and many people have been saying it's great. Plus, there's a brand new character to spice up the story. Look, this is an Xbox exclusive and if Master Chief Collection taught us anything, it's that Halo looks awesome in 60fps. Basically, we'll get a great single player campaign and we might get multiplayer if those servers are ever fixed.

3. The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask 3D
Now we're into the big hitters. The Legend of Zelda is one of the most highly respected game series ever and it's highest rated entry was Ocarina of Time. But it's the follow up, Majoras Mask, that really has my attention. It uses the same engine and systems as Ocarina but is darker, more mysterious and has the moon crash into the town after three days. It's a weird one but it's also an intriguing one. I don't usually condone remakes but we've been due this one for a while. Plus, the 3DS could do with another actual game. We don't get a lot of those round these parts.

2. Batman Arkham Knight
Now, for the third game in the Arkham Rocksteady series but the fourth in the Arkham series. Confused? Don't be. The easy thing to grasp about this is that this game is going to be incredible. Rocksteady have returned to conclude their trilogy in a game that is keeping the core (and great) mechanics of the first two games while adding the Batmobile, new enemies and a brand new antagonist in the Arkham Knight. While many were left disappointed by Arkham Origins, this sequel should make amends and be truly unmissable. In fact, it was a shoe in for the top spot until the announcement of one game in particular...

1. Just Cause 3
The sequel to one of my favourite games ever was always going to be top of the list. If anything, I want to put this higher but that's physically impossible. For those who don't know, Just Cause 2 is one of the silliest games ever. It had a huge and varied open world  map, a physics engine with enough control to be playable yet enough lack of control to be stupid fun and a lot of explosions. Like, a lot. Anyway, Just Cause 2 is almost five years old now and while it's still great fun, we could do with a revamp. And that's exactly what Just Cause 3 is offering. A new map set in the beautiful Mediterranean sea all running on the new and powerful next gen consoles? Yes please. If the blog goes suddenly quiet in the middle of the year, this game came out and it was really good.

Well, there you go. 21 different reasons to be very excited for 2015. Thanks again for all the support over the past year. I look forward to you reading the collection of words and phrases that I call my blog in the coming months. I've got some good stuff planned.
